I just got a bit of nostalgy and search for Thardferr on google. Is still site still running?

Are there any old players out there? I'm François, formerly known as Kargoth HeadEater. I played under Myth (Myst? can't remember) in the old 2nd AD&D world. Are there still anybody from that time out there?

Anyway, hello everybody!

Heya Kargoth

I remember that name.  I too ran across this place while doing a nostalgia search one afternoon... There are a few folks still coming here from the old days though none are active...

As to Myth, I've been in contact with Gage, that's his gathis name, trying to remember his old character name, and Myth has been quite busy with real life.  Most folks are.

I'm running the only game that I know of right now, which is actually a playtest of fourth edition, based about 600 - 700 years after the assassination of Eldo.

Rena was on during the last year, she did some work on Windtown I believe... it has been a few months since I've seen anything from her...

Hey you guys. Smiley I came by on a nostalgia search as well.

Gathis wasn't my project... that was a few other people who were part of Thardferr back in the day. Nyrhtlyk, D'Ellis, some other folks. When I faded out of Thardferr I built my own online 2nd edition D&D world. Then it crashed and I rebuilt it in 3.5e. Then I became an acrobat and tumbled my way out of being reliably available to build & run my world. Now my D&D comes every few weeks in a f2f paper/pencil game with my 3 youngest sons (aged 9 through 12). Last weekend we started through my favorite old Advanced Dungeons & Dragons module, the Egg of the Phoenix. I ran a group through a Thardferrized version of that module, long long ago, in the earthsblood boomtown of Nimbortan.

I've occasionally pondered starting an online D&D game back up, but real life keeps rolling crit hits on me when I do. When I was hyperactive in Thardferr I worked in IT, at a computer constantly, with a reliable desktop PC at home. Now I coach gymnastics, and I access the 'net sporadically via laptop.

I still have MBs of text (which is a *lot*) from the good ol' days. When I'm in a retirement home, paralyzed from an acrobatic injury and bored out of my aged-softened skull I'll probably print out the past (in big, easy-to-read block letters) and read through the heroic exploits that filled so much of my way attention back when. rockon

Hit me up on FaceBook via my current email addy, scott from portland at gmail (without any spaces).

It has been a long time. Good to see old friends come by every now and then to remember the good times we had.

I think the first time I did a Nostalgia search was a few years ago.

Talking with a few of the old players it turned out that almost everyone was just as busy I as I was and hadn't managed to play more than a few scattered games in years. Recently though I have been lucky enough to find a local game with players who have been able to get together at least semi-regularly. We've played mostly module style games but are are thinking of starting in Thardferr. Most likely turning back the clock to somewhere close to the beginning; not sure when, but early enough that people can enjoy some of the stuff I enjoyed while playing.

If anyone stops in that has some of the older materials (especially maps and DM only files) I am interesting in what people have to share. I've got quite a bit of materials, but it is taking time to put it together. I'll be happy to post anything I compile and organize if I manage to finish the project.

It is my hope that I will be able to create something more compact in nature than what the raw materials provides to make it easier to introduce to new players (then add expansions). I also hope to edit things slightly to put things in a more “conservative view” of the setting (think, something closer to  what Myth would have approved of) that I think was sometimes lost.

If anyone has stuff they are willing to send they can send stuff to my old e-mail:
