Shouldn't we finish detailing the continents we have: Thardferr (much open space left), Syth (Big old continent), Sythia (Should be open for play soon)

I hate to bash the new continent more, but we have all these nice cotninents not detailed that actually connect with the story, why have a msyterious continnet that does not.

I have one simple question.  If a player is abusing OOC information, then shouldn't it be up to the DM's to punish the player appropriately?  This isn't just about DM information, but all OOC information.

A private chat with a player for small things all the way up to loss of XP, levels, and even full loss of privelidges for major abuses should be effective means of dealing with abuse.

I'm well-aware of history, but with the community growing smaller, it may be time to rethink this in order to provide more chances for fun for all.

Truth:  Even with all the rules and everything else, people still cheated.

Cheating will happen regardless.

The question becomes whether you try to be draconian to stop as much as possible or let things be more free and punish grave offenders.

What is Draconian?  What is more free?  Its hard to say.

As for a new continent,

To a lot of DMs, there is nothing more worthwhile than creating a society out of scratch, instead of adding to information already there.  With a new continent, you don't have to worry about looking up lost previous information or finding out months later that your detailing completely contradicts previous works.

Yes, there is still a lot of information to detail here, but I think its better to not force us to detail stuff we don't want to detail, as that can lead to disenchantment and/or poor quality of detail.

Dalan, sometimes it confuses me that 90% of the time you propose we keep doing the same thing when it obviously is not working so well.

Aye, which is the reason for other new worlds constantly being born
e.g. http://www.lierien.com - one that comes to mind

So, umm... when do we 'reboot' Thardferr and build it from scratch again?  Tongue
(kiddin' , I remember being smacked by Angel after suggesting just that on OPEN Smiley )

Hmm, well actually, I would have to say it is because I don't really have a problem with 90% of what we do.  That may be contrary to a lot of people's opinion, but its my opinion Smiley.

If people bring up things that I don't believe are problems after reading their opinion, I should be able to say I don't think they are a problem, right?

Of course though, if the majority (or whoever is in power) thinks there is a problem, I'll abide with their decision, but that still doesn't change my opinion, yah know?

I'd be all for rebuilding Thardferr from scratch, I think there are alot of mistakes that can be fixed the second time around with material. :)
