Since Jelani's post was directed at me (since I am the only one to post since Liriel called for a 'halt' to things), I'd like to respond.

I think the idea that there are two sides is problematic and not really true.  People's opinions and views are much too complicated to fit into two opposing sides -- a problem with the current American political situation as much as it is here.  Indeed, I don't think people's opinions are the problems but rather how people clump each other together.  People seem to think that certain groups of people all agree on everything and that is usually untrue.  But the presumption is that there are two sides when infact, usually all there is are two vocal individuals expressing their viewpoints.  Actually opinions may agree or disagree with part or all of each (or both!) of other people.  Indeed, the problem is not that we are a divided community but that we percieve that we are a divided community and polarize accordingly.  So, let's stop polarizing.

Secondly, I had already taken Liriel's suggestion to heart, even before she posted it.  Why do you think I resigned from the TC?  In part because as Liriel said, I want to stop fussing and arguing over things that in the big picture had no meaning and rather get back to why I am here: fun.

Indeed, everything I have said and done since then has been in the interest of, you guessed it, fun.  And I think one of the biggest stumbling blocks to that is the TC, which is why I posted as I did.

Anyway, Liriel asked people to stop fussing and arguing so that we can let "the hurts and anger die down" and hold on things that are "best done with calm consideration rathern than the heat of the moment."

Well, I do not feel hurt, I am not angry at anyone and my posts have been in the spirit of calm consideration (though they have been very vocal and potentially contentious) and I am not doing or saying anything in the heat of the moment.  Indeed, I waited several days before saying anything in regards to what should happen next because I wanted to let other people speak without me saying anything.  Indeed, I would have not posted here, or anywhere else, except that votes were called and I was addressed personally here.  For the record, I didn't have a problem with Liriel addressing me personally and publically, since uh, duh, she asked for a clarification of what I was saying/doing in public.  I appreciate that.  There is a difference between adressing someone personally to ask for clarification and addressing them with personal insults.  The former is good, the latter is not so good.

People are making a bigger deal out of this than it actually is.  So the members of a largely symbolic Council of a make-believe world in a game resigned?  How does this affect any of our actual lived lives?  It certainly does not really affect mine, except that I'm freed from a responsibility that did not even take up too much time anyway.

Is anyone actually genuinely hurt and angry at what's been going on?  Some seem to think we are all running around and punching walls in frustration and anger.  Is this true?

In my opinion, I've not seen anyone actually upset or angry or hurt by anything that has been said in the past couple days.  Indeed, I've actually been asking Thardferr people (as much as I can) what they think of all of this and the response has been universal: it does not seem to affect people at all.

So, can anyone who feels genuinely hurt or angry over what's been going on, either post here publically or privately tell me so?  I'm just curious because I haven't seen or heard anything that indicates this.

It seems to me there are two sides to nearly every subject, but that is just my opinion. Take a look at the votes lately.... two sides?

usually there are plenty more than only two sides on every subject, and as trivial as it may sound - there are as much opinions as there are minds.
