Can I get a bit more clarification on this one Kluu?

4. Actively writing and coordinating games and sessions and detailing the world setting.

So, they are active writing and detailing the world setting.  But does coordinating games mean they are running games?   Seems like it's kinda slippery there, since your once more lingering on the idea that activity doesn't involve the actual duties of the DM, which is to run games. :) [/i]

Personally, I think the same rules should essentially apply to Players and DMs, as Players can help detail the world as well.  So why not:

PC msut be one of the below
1. Be in or actively attempting to join an ongoing group or attempting to find side sessions in which to play.
2. Be part of IC posts and play on the in game boards and at least playing in one side sessoin in every two month period.

DM must be one of the below
1. Running or recruiting for a regular scheduled, minimum bi-weekly group.
2. Be part of IC posts and play on the in game boards and at least DMing at least one side sessoin in every two month period.

for a time Endel was not able to run a group but was acting as the plot administrator and coordinating the groups and sessions that would link up, Dalan has done similar as has Nikhir. This is the sort of thing I meant. They are actively coordinating games, writing info needed for them but not actually running one.

BUt I can see where they probably could have done a side session in a two omonth period so this need not be there.

What dalan has, cleaned up a little. seems good.

I believe these should not be to hold people to a hard rule but as a guideline though. a few days here or there outside the guideline can be forgiven, but never more than a week.

Also I hope it is understood that by bi-weekly I mean twice a month or at least every other week. This is what I meant.

I guess the terms I offered were indeed lenient in their demands from the players...

I suppose what kluu offers is fine. Although a couple of old names pop up into the mind, those whose 20 posts you cant find on the boards during the year. There are a lot of those who has been absent from the boards for more than 6 months... But as long as everyone accepts these conditions - I have no problem either  8)

I have a feeling that as a guideline, if a person's name is well known, it won't be contested and this will mainly deal with those mostly unknown or new to the community.

It is mainly to keep those non-commital, outsiders and strangers from deciding things for our community with no stake or knowledge of it and we don't mean to disinfranchize anyone that is part of the community if possible.

Well, you see, I'm not partial to people even if they are well known coming back and making policy or having an active voice if it doesn't affect them.

Let's say, someone like DM Myth came back to Thardferr, but didn't want to run a group, didn't really want to detail or do anything.  Just wanted to chat on the boards and basically vote on a few things here and there to make policy.  Now, do we want him helping to make the rules for the playing community if he's not a part of that? At one time, he was a part of the community and there's no argument that he should contribute when he's a part of the community.  But if they are not actively involved in the community or the role they have chosen (DM being the only role requiring heavy activity) then why should they make policy that affects their role.  Especially former DM's, who if they are not running a group, really shouldn't have a say in how things that effect PC's are determined.

**Nothing against DM Myth, he was a great DM.  Just needed a name.**

I'm only talking about a week's leeway, not months of being away. As a guideline it would be what we use to measure activety. I would not want to say a person can't vote on something because they were only a couple days past the guideline, or like I said even as much as a week, but beyond that I would say they need to become active within the guideline once more before voting.

I'll get the proposal written up and posted here, if someone hasn't beaten me to it, by tonight.  For the moment, I'm at work and shouldn't even be here. ;)

So, Shhhhhhhhhhhhh....
