This is targeted at getting 2nd Edition players. It is meant for 2nd Edition website or message Boards. To try and get other groups loosing players or otherwise to consider coming to a central location. I could use a volunteer to help spread it around.

Greetings --- I am a player in the 2nd Edition AD&D Thardferr Setting.

Thardferr is world with multiple DMs, and multiple groups of PCs. The actions of each group or PC can affect other groups or PCs. In fact, those actions can, and often have, affected all of Thardferr (Main Continent), and even all of Kyranath (Planet).  To participate in Thardferr, a group of Player Characters (PCs) and a DungeonMaster (DM) meet online. There they participate in thrilling adventures and roleplay taking place in the land of Thardferr. Thardferr uses two Gaming platforms primarily--with DM handling group interactions and organizing how players effect the World over message Boards. The two platforms for play are OpenRPG and Hesperian.

Thardferr has existed, in one form or another online for 5+ years now. Over time the size of Thardferr has gone up and down, at one time having around 20 DMs running groups, but for the most part having somewhere between 8-10 Dms running around 10 campaigns.

Due to a number of factors including: Multiple Website Changes, 3E Attracting Players Elsewhere, New Players not knowing the Old Rules, Board Problems, and other minor issues all during a short time period our setting has reached an all-time low for both player population and DM population. Unlike our the changes in size in the past, it seems this time that rather than numbers moving up and down throughout the year--they are continually dropping.

Our Setting is slowly, but surely, going away.

Having never in the past, or since joining, having found the equal to my experience of playing in the same setting  for years with many quality players and DM this is something that bothers me greatly. Not willing to give up on the chance to interact with other groups I play with both In Character and Out of Character, I am a few others are trying once again to attract players and help our ranks grow again.

We need players, and more importantly quality DMs. We are aware most of the 2nd Edition Players and DMs who are still around have their games that they have been playing in for sometimes (and that that will make things difficult), however we are hoping to attract some in the knowledge that separate games over time tend to loose players and fall apart faster. I think there is something to say to strength in numbers, and I hope some people might come take a look:

Alright, I have spent all morning tracking down websites that have Forums within them that talk about 2nd Edition. Theses are sites that have a more general Roleplaying theme but put asside one Boards for AD&D 2nd Edition.

It took a couple hours, and now I need to know if others can set aside a couple of hours to take on the following assignments. If you can take on, please post:

1) Individuals - Whoever takes this assignment would search out 2nd Edition Websites, Netbooks (authors), or whatever other sources to find a few outstanding individuals who do not seem to mind putting a lot of work in AD&D. Then contact them and see if they are interested. Find someone using a lot of energy and try to convince them they could use it here.

2) Site Listings / WebRings - Someone would check all those lists for D&D that have Thardferr, and attempt to get them updated. Or get us a new listing.

3) 2nd Edition Groups Someone try and search out campaign websites, and see if the DMs or player might want to try a second campaign in Thardferr.
