Well this is getting better.   Keep it up folks.

3E/3.5E and Thardferr is not really as difficult as it sounds.   The main thing about any conversion is to look at what we as Thardferr have and make sure those classes and races plus any specialty stuff is taken care of Before trying things out.   Perks and Flaws may have to be changed or adjusted to reflect the skills and feats of 3E.

To those that may be leery of making a change...it takes very little to get used to the mechanics of the d20 system.   In fact the current basic rules are available online from WotC for free.

I would have thought that an MM was in the mandatory list to get...what is a world of rp with the MM and if the site does not offer the MM...shame on it.

Well I guess I should go and search for it now...

As someone who owns nearly all of the 3e books (not including the 'expanded' add-ons nor the forgotton realms saga), I went on a mission to find someone who had all the 3e books AND all the 3.5 books...

From what I gleened, the biggest changes seemed to be the shifting of a few skills or feats into slightly different skills or feats, or with different progression.... for example.. Animal empathy used to be a skill, but later became a Ranger and Druid automatically gained Character Feat...

small changes like this, seem to not necessitate buying the 3.5 books if you already have the 3e.... Also with the SRD for 3.5 available online it seems relatively straight forward to delve into that information and compare versions keeping in mind the 'correct versions' for a paticular setting...

The guy I was talking to mostly only new about it from a player stance however, and I am still looking for whether it holds true for the DMG and the MM... I could see that if they changed one or two fundamental things in the MM that the whole book would be 'changed'....  I'm wondering if that is the case or not  and would not mind comparing a few entries side by side if possible...

There are more changes then that.

Rangers and bards got significant upgrades.

Damage Reduction works in an entirely different manner.

An entire category of monsters in the MM was eliminated.

Spells were rebalanced quite a bit.

Quite a few splash book materials were added to the core books.

That's what I can think of off top of my head anyway.

are all these changes covered in the SRD ??.... at least from the 'player perspective' ?... I can probably afford to buy 2 books but the whole set would be unfortunate...

** Different topic entirely **

Computing power has grown so nice and large and powerful, yet the jerks that make these things don't bother to use uniform naming conventions for their products.  NOOOOO!!  Some jerky boy at the marketing office has to decide to say "Oh! They're using XT over at nVidia for their cool stuff, so we'll use XT here at ATI to market our "economy" card, that way they think they're getting the awesome stuff but it's not really!"

**the stocky dwarf stomps off, finds the marketing divisions for both companies and proceeds to remove the heads from each person's shoulders.**

** Rant done, continue with yours **

The player effected changes are reflected by the SRD, yes.

Could it be?   Will it happen?   It is looking like the famous line might actually come to pass.   "The time has come, the walrus said ..."   3.0/3.5 and Thardferr.

I don't really see this as the end of the world.   I know of at least one other place that is successfully using both systems for gaming.   A conversion would certainly make it easier for new gamers to have the rules without hunting all over creation.

Anyone else tired of the divided and seemingly mean-spirited nature of this community?

Nope I'm not tired of it... I think what some people call mean spirited others call Defensive or being vocal...

Not to mention the rules but well other small things to go along with 3e.  But considering the rules are the biggest part of any edition well I agree, there needs to be some great access that will work most of the time unlike the Thardferr map where you need to search to get a good version.  Anyways, I am tired of that community either, it makes me laugh, but not an evil laugh just a regular one.
