Session 12 ~ The boat ride

Location: Crypt underground Hilltownforge finishing somewhere in a forest by a river.

PC’s: Dymirr ( DarkRayden ), Paks, Quazar ( Devils_childsso ) , Furio ( Umaro the destroyer )


NPC’s: Ray, Xxian, 3 rats

EXP: 90/per level/ per hour

Session Length: 5 hours

Short Version of Events

After a bit of rest and some torch making, the group head through another door and find a stranger bound and gagged. Paks unties the stranger and makes the acquaintance of one Furio, an elf. After some talk, they decide to band together to get of the crypt and they continue on their way. They come upon three rats, they kill two and the other runs away. Continuing, they hear the sound of water and head towards it. They reach a clearing with an old rickety wooden bridge, which they find they must cross. The crossing is successful but on the other side Paks and Furio argue and the group is split, leaving the elf to fend for himself. Dymirr, Paks, and Xxian lead Ray and Quazar down some steps to the river where they come across a troll and after some fighting manage to defeat him. Furio rejoins the group and they decide to get into the seed pod looking boat that the troll was supposedly guarding. After one wicked ride, the group end up almost drowning, but thankfully they survive and end up on the bank of the river, in a forest.

Longer Version

Having rested and made a nice supply of torches, the group decides it is time to leave. After Dymirr finished his prayer, the group head through the next door. They enter a room that appeared to be a soldiers dining room. The tables were old and filthy but on the other side of the room, the group found a figure, bound and gagged. Paks removes the gag from the figure and proceeds to question him. The stranger is very defensive and it is only then that the ranger realises that the captive is an elf. She tries to converse with him in the elven language but she doesn't get much more of a possitive response. Paks however, removes the blindfold and ropes, freeing him. Paks, Dymirr and Xxian introduce themselves, Quazar let’s the elf know a little about himself. As the elf relises he has been rescued by humans, he introduces himself as Furio and agrees to help aid the others in finding a way out of the crypt. Paks asks Xxian to loan the elf a sword and then they head for the next door. Dymirr checks for traps and discovers three symbols on the door. A tree, a star and a snake, each symbol appears to be a switch of some sort. Furio walks over to the door and after some studying he presses the snake switch and opens a sliding door. However, whislt this is happening, Quazar is busy making moves on Ray. Paks, unhappy with this goes to supervise. Ray gives Paks a look that says she does not want to be babysat and Paks leaves them be but not before warning Quazar that if he touched her, he would find out how good she was with her quarterstaff. As the door slid open and the group walked forth, they found themselves in a room with benches, a desk and another door at the far end of the room. The room suggests that it has been used recently, Dymirr asks the group whether they had noticed that the rooms were getting bigger and the ceilings higher, suggesting that they were going lower down instead of up. Furio leads the group through the door and they find themselves in a passage, dimly lit by the torches that lined the walls. Furio moves ahead, but followed by Paks. The elf snatches the torch from Paks and throws it to the ground behind her and instructs her to stay back, which of course she ignores, now annoyed with the elf for taking her torch. The others still followed. Furio and Paks come across three rats in the passage. Paks attacks the first rat, severing it in two. Furio then stabs the second rat with his sword but only manages to annoy it. Furio takes another swing but misses wildly this time. The rat attacks Furio, biting him on the thigh, but the mighty elf is protected by armor and the bite was unable to do major damage. Paks then attacks the rat but also misses wildly. The rat, now very pissed off, attacks Xxian and bites the gnome. By this stage, the other rat has fled leaving only the wounded, annoyed rat in the groups way. Furio tries again but still he misses. Xxian steps up for the challenge but he too misses. Quazar runs up to the rat with the torch and attempts to set it on fire but luckily for the rat, he does not succeed. Paks, now unhappy with the pain that the rat must be feeling goes in a finishes the job herself, dealing the rat enough damage to finally put it to sleep. Dymirr however is not happy that Paks had killed the rat but the ranger explained that she did not feel comfortable leaving it there to die in pain. The group continue on their way, Furio, in the lead grumbles continuously about humans. The passage narrows and the group is forced into single file, Quazar teases Xxian about Orcs eating gnomes, upsetting Xxian. Paks makes it known that she does not like Orcs. Dymirr heals Xxian for 1 hp and after a little more walking the group come to a fork in the tunnel. The left one has a steady breeze coming from it and the right appeared to go up. The group however decided to go left. It was here that Quazar decided to experiment and kissed Ray passionately. Paks, however, did not see this happen as she was still discussing the direction they should take. Paks asks for the torch and turns to find a very guilty looking Ray. Paks questions the girl and is informed of the kiss. The ranger is not happy. Quazar, not at all fazed, then suggests to Ray that other thing can also be pleasurable. Paks, unsure of what to do, decides that Quazar is Dymirr’s responsibility. The group takes the left tunnel, Ray clings to the rangers clothes. Quazar, after spending some time reading a book rejoins the group. After some walking, the group find themselves on the edge of a cliff. There is a drop of at least several hundred feet and the only way across the cliff to the ground on the other side is by a very rickety looking wooden bridge. The bridge was old and frail but it was the only way across. Furio walked across first with no trouble. Then Paks and Ray crossed, also with out difficulty. As Quazar made his way across, the young man slipped and he dangled for a bit before finally making it across. Dymirr also crossed the bridge confidently. However whilst the others were crossing, Paks and Furio got into an argument. Paks speaking elven and Furio speaking common. The platform they now stood on was around 30 feet wide and had two tracks leading from it. One went into another tunnel and the other down stairs towards the river. The elf, Furio, now very angry with Paks went off on his own to the tunnel while the other went down the stairs, Xxian in the lead. Quazar and Ray chose this time to bombard the ranger with questions, Ray about sexuality and Quazar about why she wouldn’t let him near Ray. Paks questioned Quazar on his age and when he replied told she called him a child. Dymirr burst out laughing and Quazar became very annoyed, threatening to leave. Dymirr calmed him down and convinced him to join them. At the bottom of the stairs, the group were confronted with a troll. The troll screamed and ran at them, Paks grabbed her cross bow and tried talking to the troll but it ignored her. Quazar tries to attack the troll with his torch but doesn’t succeed. The troll, not happy lunges at Paks and hit her with his club dealing a small amount of damage. Xxian attacks the troll with his morning star and hits the troll hard, in fact stunning it so bad it passed out. Quazar takes some of the trolls blood and puts it in a vial. The group notices a boat on the river, it must have been what the troll was guarding. It is a strange looking boat, it resembled a seed pod. After some discussion the group, now rejoined by Furio, gets into the boat. The takes off and the group are subjected to a wild and incredibly fast ride. The ride did not last long, but it ended with them totally submerged in water. After the boat surfaced, the group were running quickly out of air and Paks opened the door allowing the water to flow out, but also taking their gear with it. Paks jumped out into the river and grabbed her pack and quarterstaff before they were able to get away and then scrambled to the river bank. The rest of the group soon joined her and went about making a fire.

Casualties: 2 rats, 1 knocked out Troll

The Story

Early in the morning, one could even say that it was still night. Jack, a handsome young man, was taking a rather hasty walk outside of city walls. In just new rising day, paying attention to what was going behind him, he did not notice a limp body lieing on the ground. It was the body of limp and hypothermic man called, as he had learned later, Quazar. As the story goes, Quazar was separated from his group prior night without them knowing it. After near freezing experienced in the river, he managed to climb up onto rivers banks where he collapsed and was found near the morning. Seeing, as Jack had relatively good heart, he decided to put up the fire and be on his while. However, for that great and good service, he decided to “borrow” some belongings of the unconscious man.

When later adventurous Jack was about to continue on with his journey, the limp man started regaining his senses. Jack seeing this gave the man some of his own wine to drink, but them man did not want to touch it with his lips. After a short argument, which almost turned deadly, Jack and Quazar became kind of friends. The items were returned to Quazar, for the promise of some learning and a company. As it turned out Quazar‘s friends were camped on the other side of the river, some distance upstream. In order to reunited themselves, Xxians did throw a line attached to the boat which Jack was to pull over and use it to get himself and Quazar to other side. Not always things go as planned, Jack’s strength failed him, and the current stole the boat and rope taking it somewhere downstream. Seeing as that did not work, and having less options at hand, Xxian “remodeled” one other boat to suit his needs. Using this board both partied managed to finally come together and after some chat take it for a ride down the stream.

The ride was fast, a bit bumpy, and a water cold. On the way Quazar, seeing as he still was highly weakened, attempted to drink some of the contents of his wineskin. The wineskin, as Jack has learned, contained a rather large amount of Troll’s blood. As much as the idea might have had some merit for Quazar it proved near fatal. He, outside of making himself feel rather bad, almost managed to vomit all his guts out. A rather messy and icky experience that was, especially on boat among a number of other people. Yuck. Of course, if it ended at that everything would be fine. But, everything going fine… is not part of life. A slight scare provided a pack of armed humanoids standing a few yards from the shore, and party considered horrors of what would happen if they unleashed the rain of arrows. Luckily, group escaped that fate. And now, that most thought all would be well… the boat got stuck with people forced to take a walk in relatively shallow but fast and cold river towards the shore. Ahh, and to spice it up, the bottom was covered in rather slippery stones as well. A few of party ended up being rather being bruised, but with nothing that proved fatal.

The shore proved to be a rather welcoming place, as soon grumbling stomachs started to rebel in some of the more sensitive bellies. The rain, oh the rain, it did rain rather badly. After hiding under some branches, Paks found a better place to hide under. Here, after the fire was made and Quazar book’s after his last swim was dried, group started building Indain type of shelter. It was truly a group effort, most were gathering branches, some giving instructions, quickly building some more solid protection from the elements. A few moments after the shelter was build, the rain stopped. However, the clouds did not go away promising some more rain at later time. There, under cover of the shelter after a bit of talk, and a drink of water, most went to sleep. Although it was still midday, earlier events have tired them and they needed some rest. Actually seemingly needed some sleep but a gnome, who after hunting down the squirrel was so excited about it, felt it necessary to kick, and rather hardly at that, Jack’s ribs to wake him up so he could borrow a knife to skin the poor animal.

Here at the end, one has to underline Paks’ care for the well being of the group. Going after Furio after he separated(not finding him, by the way), or checking up on boat once the rain stopped was something that Paks thought off and not anybody else. One could say, that Paks truly is example of woman of the wild, caring but not careless… a true jewel to have for a companion in the forests of Thardferr.

Session 14 ~ "Gypsys, Tramps and thieves"

Session Length: (I don't know, I had to leave early)

The story:

The party wakes to Xxian throwing rocks at the shelter. It is found that the gnome has seen troop movement. The party begins scurrying around, talking about weather to pack and leave, or approach the troops. About that time the troops move on, without a sign. Everyone packs up, the fire is put out, and it is decided the best move is to move on.

as they are traveling along the road, they see a lone traveler. He is approached, and it is found that he is a Dwarf apparently heading to Wanuttown. The Dwarf, Khazdan, decides to join the party

They continue to a bridge, still on high alert, with sounds of a caravan ahead. Xxian decides that the best move is to cross under the bridge, and posably leave the road and follow down the river.

It is decided by the rest of the party that this is a possible option, but not one they really wish to take.

They slowly cross the bridge, arguing about what to do next, and occasionally hiding or yelling- as the party was split as to what to do.

Quazar, loosing patience, and wishing a ride instead of a two day walk, runs around the corner into the caravan, and anounces the existance of the rest of the party.

The parts slowly works their way towards the caravan, which ends up being a band of Gypsy's.

Those party members that knew how to repair wagon wheels started to do so, till it was pointed out to the gypsy's that they had spare parts, which proved to the gypsy's that at least some of the party were inteligent. The gypsy's offer the party a ride.

Quazar takes it on himself to protect Ray from the advances of the Gypsy's and almost gets killed. His life is spared by the actions of Paks and Dymirr.

It is discovered the gypsys are heading the wrong way, and Quazar opens up about his wish to find a secret guild, the Inconnu, to the party, and is given some advice.

The gypsy's stop for the night to set up camp. barter for tent space begins, food is searved, maryment and idle chat begin, some party members retire, others talk, others get drunk, and the caravan begins to retire for the night.

Casualties: apparently none, although I am personally confused about coments made about eating a cat?!

Session Length: 3 hours

The Story

As the party gets jolly and dipsomaniac with the gypsy lot, it is closing to the late evening. Khazdan found that the only real company he needs is the endless amount of rum and a bowl of randomly tossed inside food, spending the entire night by the caravan. Quazar quits to the tent after abusing the same beverage and retires for the reminder of the evening. However, Jack, Ray, Paks, Dymirr and Xxian take a little part in the gypsy festivity – they get satiated and even try to reproduce some singing, much to the gypsy amusement. During the meal Dymirr tends Xxian's wounds as the latter passes out and the others enjoy the pleasant environment near the fire the gypsies started. They all retire to the tent after the celebration is done, leaving however Jack in the company of one very indifferent to his persona wench.
Dymirr escapes the tent in the middle of the night and sets a Wyvern to guard their tent, not trusting the gypsies too much after the moves they made on Ray…

Morning comes and the sun shines for a few brief moments, promising little warmth during the rest of the day. The party gets a quick breakfast and packs their gear to continue the journey. Yet, after so many preparations, as the caravan starts to move in the direction of the town, the party finds it difficult to recognize the plan they eventually agreed on (if at all). Thus, leaving the pesky gnome, in his major hangover on one of the wagons, and Quazar in a similar condition relieving himself on another, with the rest of the team unable to decide which way they wanted to go – a slight commotion ensued. Now, the puzzled gypsies observed some members of the party jump on and off the moving wagons, and eventually placing themselves scattered among the caravan, divided to pairs…
The travel to Talemesh was rather brief and shortly they were stopped by a couple of ridiculously rude OOS guards, who wished nothing but checking the cargo the gypsies carried. With some confusion and severely astounded by the treatment of the local authorities, the party proceeds into the town where they spread up to fulfill their most urgent tasks. Quazar wished to get cleaned and washed in a tavern, offering a little fee to the innkeeper for the services. Xxian immediately went looking for 'HIS ship of gold-gold' and found some scheduling journal for the date the ship is due to arrive to Hush. Jack offered Quazar to help selling the potion of troll's blood in a special place, but met an unexpected company including Ray and Paks, who wished to join him on the path of the roguish trades. Jack led them to the black market and disappeared among the crowd once both lasses got their eyes on the overprized jewelry. Dymirr and Khazdan were only concerned of the recent rumors and scouted the area for sources of information. After being insolently sent away from the guard house they returned to the tavern and interrogated the local patrons of the news in Litharian area.

Session 16 ~ Potatoes & Herbs ~

Location: Tailemesh to perhaps Hush
PC’s: Dymirr ( DarkRayden ), Paks, Khazdan, Xxian ( Boltt )
NPC’s: Ray, Jack, Quazar and Khazdan ( for short time only ), Captain of boat and Rorny the first mate.
EXP: 93.25/per level/ per hour
50 points per IC post, DR 150 points for TT, Jack 100

Session Length: 4 hours

Short Version of Events

The group are reunited and spend the night at the tavern in Tailemesh. When morning arrives the weather is harsh and the group go to find Xxian’s boat. They reach the dock and as they cross the wooden plank to get on the boat, Khazdan, Jack and Ray lost their balance and plundered into the river. Khazdan and Jack managed to get out of the water without any hassle but poor Ray was unable to hold onto the ropes thrown to her. After some dismay, Paks jumped into the water and with the help of her companions was able to get the girl queen out of the water. The group once aboard the ship were allocated a room and Xxian was taken off by himself. The girls changed out of their wet clothes and settled into their hammocks for a rest. It is now that the girls and Jack notice that Quazar is no longer with them. Dymirr healed Ray and concocted a brew which ended up getting both himself and Ray high. Xxian was seen to be peeling potatoes. The boat took off and several hours later it stopped in a port, which the players assumed, is Hush. As the group gets off the boat, Jack pays the fee and they all find that Xxian has taken off without them.

Longer Version

Paks, Jack and Ray meet up with Xxian and Quazar at the port masters office. Xxian informs them the boat for Hush will be leaving in the morning and the port master suggests they find lodging for the night. Quazar suddenly jumps up, mumbling something incoherent and rushes off. Paks watches him as she combs Ray’s hair with their new pearl shell comb and finally suggests that they could perhaps stay at the tavern Jack had shown them earlier. Xxian, extremely excited leads the way. Meanwhile, Dymirr and Khazdan happen to be at the very tavern that the others are heading. They were questioning the bar keeper when Quazar came charging in, rambling about a copper coin. Dymirr questions Quazar and is informed of he whereabouts of the others. The rest of the group arrives and swap tales. Dymirr had a particularly interesting tale about a healing woman named Lalina. After some food and drink the party retire and sleep fitfully through the night. Next morning the group awaken and meets downstairs for some breakfast. Xxian however is feeling rather impatient and demands that the group eat on the run. As they leave the tavern, they are hit by icy wind and sharp rain. The group makes a run for the port masters office but find the office shut and locked. Xxian not happy about this, finds a map of the dock and leads the group to it.

There are several boats tied up when the group arrives but they all appear to be unmanned. The group voices their concern but Xxian is to be unperturbed and finally finds the boat he is looking for. The group follows him only to realise that they would have to cross a rickety wooden plank to get onto the boat. Dymirr, Xxian and Paks make it across but the wind and rain caused Ray, Khazdan and Jack to fall into the river. The crew finally appeared and threw out ropes the others to grab and Khazdan and Jack are pulled in safely. Ray however is unable to hold onto the ropes and the crew try desperately to pull her in but do not succeed. Ray, strength failing, begins to be pulled under. Thr group become extremely worried and they ditch their gear onto the boat. Paks dives into the water and after a short while is able to locate the girl. Ray however is caught by the current and gets dragged under the dock, Paks now has a hold of her shirt, grabs the dock and prevents the girl from being taken further away. The crew throw out ropes once more and Dymirr casts a spell on Ray that enables Paks to grabs the ropes and the take a hold of Ray once more. The girls are pulled into the boat where they find a ladder, Ray climbs up first and Khazdan waits up top to pull her up when she reaches him. Paks follows and finally they are both safely out of the water. The group is taken below decks where the captain speaks and finally instructs he first mate to give the group dry blankets and show them where they are to sleep. Upon entering the room that group was to sleep, Paks is unhappy. It is tiny and there is no place for the girls to change without the boys watching. Grabbing a blanket, the ranger strung it up between a row of hammocks, making a girls side and boys side. Xxian is taken by Rorny, the first mate, elsewhere as the gnome had made a deal to be hired as crew. Paks asks Dymirr to check Ray over. Dymirr produces some oil and begins to rub it into the very cold girl. Dymirr instructs Paks to get Ray a hot drink, but the ranger dressed only in a blanket, asks if perhaps the cleric could get it instead. Dymirr agrees and leaves the room in search of a kitchen. Khazdan wonders around the ship looking for something to do to pass the time. Paks, Ray and Jack finally realise that Quazar is no longer with them.

Dymirr enters a room where he finds two of the crew going through a draw, they appeared to very unhappy and even less unhappy at being interrupted. Dymirr continues in his search ad finally finds the kitchen, but he also finds something much more amusing. Upon entering the cleric sees Xxian sitting on stool peeling potatoes. The gnome tries to hide what he is doing by implying that he is just eating the raw potatoes because they taste good. The cleric however cannot be fooled and laughs at the gnome, Xxian raves on about steering the ship and other things whist Dymirr tries to find a location of some herbs for the hot drink. He finally found some and brewed up a drink, it smelled slightly odd but Dymirr believed that any hot drink would be good. The boat starts to move and the group realise they are on their way to Hush. Xxian jumped up and took off to help the crew. Dymirr tastes his potion and then takes it back to Ray. Ray doesn’t like the smell of it and demands Dymirr to taste it before she does. Dymirr realise this is the only way the girl would drink so he takes a sip. Ray, satisfied, takes a mouthful. Paks peers over her hammock watching the two. Ray doesn’t like the taste and tells Dymirr that from now on he should just cast a healing spell on her. Dymirr begins to feel funny, sways a little and tries to support himself on the hammock. Paks suggest that he lay down and as she looked at Ray, the ranger noticed that she was fast asleep. Dymirr’s mind begins to wonder and he falls into a very dreamy sleep. Paks too falls asleep.

The group awaken when the boat stops and Dymirr wakes with a bad headache and speaks of very strange dreams. The group go upstairs and Jack negotiates the fare. The group notice Xxian is missing and Rorny informs them that the gnome left an hour ago to find his ship of gold. Paks finds this hard to believe and continues to look for him. The captain, when questioned says that Xxain left 20 minutes ago. Paks becomes worried but no one will tell her anymore and the group is left with no option but to get of the boat. The crew of the boat jeer at them as they leave, they appear to have very different attitudes to when the group first got on the boat. The group finds themselves on a dock where there are quite a few ships and the township appears to be quite big, no one on the boat would tell them where they were so the group assume they are indeed in Hush. Once off the boat the group decide to look for Xxian.

* Dymirr brewing a potion for Ray which turned out to be made form Jitterweed, causing both Dymirr and Ray to get high.
